Upcoming Talk: Eagle Eyed! The Secret History of Action Figures!

Back in the mists of time (or 2003, if you want to be specific) my old mate Dez Skinn and I noticed the insane craze for action figures and so we decided to start a "lad's mag" aimed at the male collector called Toy Max International. Dez published it and I edited it. Sadly, we never got past the first issue. However, it's become quite collectable itself these days!:
To find out why it never took off, and to explore the weird and wacky history of action figures, I'm doing a site-specific talk at Brighton Toy and Model Museum on Thursday 4 April, 2019 called:

Eagle Eyed! The Secret History of Action Figures!
From G.I. Joe and Action Man to The Masters of The Universe, via Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Marvel superheroes, right up to the modern-dayFunko phenomena, writer and editor of Toy Max International Tim Pilcher takes you on whirlwind tour through all things action-orientated and articulated! From the ground-breaking Star Wars toys explosion of the Seventies to the ultra-realistic modelling boom of the late 1990s, you’ll discover the fascinating hidden history of some of our most beloved (and weirdest) toys, and the tragic fate of his favourite action figures.

Doors: 18:30
Talk: 19:00-20:00
With Q&A after
Tickets are VERY limited to 35 seats (and we've already sold 2!) and are just £7 (plus booking fee).
Bring along your favourite/weirdest action figures! And yes, that is Tony Blair below.
And yes, there IS a bar in the museum, so come early! You can find out more about the The Brighton Toy and Model Museum at their website. It's a great central location, right underneath the train station, so perfect for all you out-of-towners! Plus, there are a couple of great pubs (The Albert and The Nelson) right opposite for drinks afterwards!
